Home solar power systems are cheaper in the long run because of the great savings that are possible when you generate your own energy compared to paying for energy from the power company. But installing your own solar power system at home can require a lot of capital upfront. 1. The most important way to save costs is to cut down on your energy use. This may sound irrelevant to the issue of installing a solar system at home but it will save you a lot of costs whether you decide to install one or not.

2. Build as much energy as you can afford. Generally speaking, you will make back your investment through the savings on energy costs over time no matter how much you spend initially. It may take a while, but you will break even.
